From the desk of Jimena, South Coast Enviro-Experiences Project Officer.

More than fifty volunteers gathered on a beautiful and sunny Sunday morning to celebrate National Tree Planting Day in Esperance. Together they planted more than 1300 seedlings, a remarkable effort that will contribute to the regeneration of the Flora Park section of Lake Monjingup after it was affected by a bushfire in 2015. These seedlings, consisting of native trees, shrubs and sedges, will help restore biodiversity, create habitat and protect the wetland.

The Planet Ark National Tree Planting Day event was organised by the Shire of Esperance and South Coast NRM with support from Esperance Toyota.
The event was part of the South Coast Enviro – Experiences project, supported by Lotterywest. If you would like to volunteer with us and be part of future environmental events, register on our volunteer platform and you will be notified of opportunities along the South Coast that match your interests and availability, there is something for everyone!
