We love sharing our knowledge! Last week, Natalie, our Project Leader and Letisha, our Regional Landcare Facilitator, presented an overview of our organisation and natural resource management to Certificate IV Conservation and Ecological Management students from South Regional TAFE Albany Campus.
As part of their studies, the students are looking at natural resource management and Landcare networks in the region. Natalie and Letisha shared many aspects of how South Coast NRM networks with partners across the region to deliver projects and on-ground actions.
The importance of Southern Prospects – the South Coast Regional Natural Resource Management Strategy – was discussed, in particular the significance of community consultation during its development. The regional strategy was acknowledged as an important guide for NRM priority actions across the south coast.
Summarising South Coast NRM’s many projects lead to interesting conversations on environmental threats, engaging landholders and understanding First Nations peoples’ contribution to Caring for Country. It was a great opportunity to showcase the variety of South Coast NRM’s activities and give the students food for thought on working in NRM and the importance of networks in developing and implementing projects.
