Albany Heritage Reference Group Aboriginal Corporation (AHRGAC), and South Coast Natural Resource Management Inc. commissioned a Heritage survey at Ballogup/Lake Pleasant View, during March 2021 to find out more about how this heritage site has been used in the past. The survey was conducted by Paul Greenfeld of Deep Woods Surveys (WA) Pty Ltd, and a short film produced by Green Man Media Productions.
The first two days heritage survey involved ground search by AHRGAC family members walking and learning from Archaeologist Paul Greenfeld. Some exciting discoveries of tool making scatter were found at different locations, including a potential new source of tool making rock found on the dried lake bed itself.
The final day involved discussing the finds and potential uses of the site with AHRGAC elders. It was fabulous to see the buzz the elders got from walking on country looking for new evidence and artefacts.
