From the desk of Catherine, South Coast Enviro-Experiences Project Officer.
You don’t have to be a greenie to understand how important it is to be ‘sustainable in your own backyard’. Inspiration and opportunities to make sustainable choices were showcased en-mass at this year’s City of Albany’s Green Fair on the Square on Saturday 21st October.
Encouragement for environmental volunteers was provided by the South Coast Enviro Experiences team, showing how signing-up to the online volunteering web platform can encourage community connections and inspire volunteers to play a significant role in the remarkable environmental achievements of local not-for-profit groups.
The warmer weather certainly brought the crowds to explore sustainable transport options to reduce their carbon footprint, learn how energy saving tips can lower bills as well as help the planet and, even learn about sustainable livestock while watching a miniature milking goats fashion parade.
There are lots of ways to embrace sustainability and do the right thing. One of them is becoming an environmental volunteer. Thank you to our volunteer, Melena, who volunteered with the South Coast Enviro Experience stall and to everyone who stopped by to learn about our web platform.
If you missed the event, and would like to learn more about your local environment and make a difference, come and see us in the AgFocus tent at the Albany Agricultural Show on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November. You can find out how to join our dedicated team of volunteers and sign up to the South Coast Enviro Experiences web platform where you will have access to amazing volunteering activities across the Great Southern.
The South Coast Enviro-Experiences project is supported by Lotterywest.
