Noongar Elders, family and members of the Albany Heritage Reference Group Aboriginal Corporation (AHRGAC) recently took part in a planting day, on Country, at Manypeaks, aimed at restoring the AHRGAC property.
The passionate group planted more then 850 seedlings as part of a plan to restore this cultural landscape. The seedlings were grown from seed, after seed was collected by AHRGAC at Ballogup in December 2021. Gnowangerup Aboriginal Corporation and TAFE grew the seeds at the newly established Gnowangerup nursery. From seed to seedlings in 10 months!
The planting day allowed participants to take part in the whole revegetation cycle, seeing the process through from start to finish.
This work was undertaken as part of the Restoring Lake Pleasant View project, supported by Lotterywest.
