Retired from South Coast NRM in December 2014 after employment term of seven years; last position held Contracts and Monitoring & Evaluation Manager.
Through this position, Helen developed an understanding of the natural resource sector, its strengths and frailties; the requirement for the work currently being carried out to continue into the future; and the challenges and hurdles currently in place as being a significant factor in the success and continuation of programs.
In her role as manager she took part in the corporate and strategic planning processes; some achievements were the updating of the Corporate Plan and the development of the Staff Charter; management of the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy and an Information Management Strategy; ensured all financial transactions were carried out in accordance with contracted agreements and held the responsibility of ensuring head contracts with all funding providers were scrutinised and feedback provided to CEOs prior to acceptance, that the documents were appropriately and legally signed in accordance with contract law, and ensured funding was received in accordance with agreed funding schedules.
Introduced the use of risk assessment processes into all contract scoping documents to ensure it became included in considerations for all developing projects and participated in the development of an Organisational Risk Register to evaluate potential risks to the organisation at a business scale.
Good understanding that good governance provides direction, control and restraint and ensures the purpose of the organisation is not compromised with unnecessary or unauthorised movements and transactions, to provide good leadership, and build sound business practices for future growth and success.
Previously self employed as a small business proprietor; involved in farming and property manager of 20,000 broadacre cropping enterprise.
