In addition, the project will complement work being carried out through a Caring for our Country program (09SC-C15 and 10SC-C70) which targets WONS the State NRM funding (09055a) that targets environmental weeds, within the surrounding buffer. The Caring for our Country program also funds capacity building in weed identification and control in the Porongurup community and with landowners to achieve an effective long term outcome.
This project will reduce the impact of Weeds of National Significance (blackberry) over 40 ha surrounding the park over two years (2011/12 and 2012/13 and contribute to the overall goal – a Porongurup free of environmental Weeds. It will also engage 80 people, four media releases, four written products and conduct four events.
